Bye-bye appendix

In the middle of night on Wednesday, I woke up with a sharp pain on my right side.
All day Thursday, I was still in pain and literally couldn't keep anything down. I was even throwing up water.
That night it was bad enough that, I decided to go to the hospital, just to make sure everything was okay, with the baby and all.
After doing blood work, an ultrasound and a MRI, they determined that I needed to have my appendix taken out. I was so glad that it was just my appendix and nothing was wrong with the baby.

 My appendix

My uterus

They took out my appendix by laparoscopy. So they cut in through my belly button and then three small cuts, just underneath my bra.

I had to stay in the hospital for two nights, so that they could monitor the baby. She did great with it all, it really didn't seem to affect her at all. Ellie had a great time staying at my parent's house for the weekend. It is so nice that they were able to watch her for so long, so that Mika could be at the hospital with me.

It is supposed to take four to six weeks to fully recover, but I should be feeling pretty good within a week. I am taking work off for the week and have just been at home trying to recover and relax. I think the hardest part right now, is that I am not supposed to lift anything over twenty pounds, so I can't pick up Ellie at all.

So we have just been hanging out at home.
I have been re-watching all the seasons  of The Office for a about the millionth time.
Taking lots of baths.
Considering doing some homework . . . I have only done like two chapters. Ha.
Working on some projects that I started a million years ago. . . . . . . . . . . . Maybe I will actually finish them.

Little St. George vacation

We went down to St. George for the President's Day weekend. Two of my sisters had soccer games, so we went for a mini vacation and to watch their games. My aunt an uncle have a second house down there, so we were able to stay there. It was so nice and warm.

Ellie and Daddy eating squeaky cheese at the Cache Valley Cheese factory in Beaver.

Daddy helping Ellie swim in the pool.

 Playing soccer

My little family watching a soccer game

I had just gotten out of the shower and Ellie was in the room with me, while I was getting dressed. My sister knocked on the door and Ellie swings the door wide open and says, "Don't look at my mommy when she is naked!" . . . . Completely exposing my nakedness.

It's a girl!

 Baby girl's foot.

Her head with an arm in front of the face.
(Mika says she is Tebowing)

Sorry for the horrible picture quality, They are pictures I took of the ultrasound pictures.

We are pretty set on the name, but we are still working on coming up with a middle name. We have a few ideas, but we are quite set on it yet.

Ellie is very excited for her little sister.
I am pretty excited, (I didn't really care either way about the sex, just wanted a healthy baby)
Mika is excited, but a little bummed. He was really hoping for a boy. . . but maybe next time. ;)

Valentine's day

Ellie opening her present from Mommy.

 My gorgeous flowers from Mika
(Plus Ellie posing in the background)

Ellie with her new teddy bear from Daddy.

It was a simple Valentine's Day since we still had work and school. Ellie went to Grandma Larsen's while I worked and Mika slept, (since he works graves) After work I came home and Mika surprised me and made an amazing dinner.
Steak, with sauteed onions, homemade mashed potatoes and broccoli.
It was soooo yummy. After we took an actual and uninterrupted nap, since Ellie was still at Grandma's. It was the best nap I have had in a long time. Then of course I still had to go to school, (no fun)
But overall it was a pretty nice and simple Valentine's Day.
I am so glad I have my cute little family to spend it with.

17 weeks and 5 days

I have gained about five pounds. (Give or take)

My belly measures 34 inches around.

I am still wearing my normal jeans, but I have started rubber banding the button hole.

What do I crave?:
Peanut butter (Usually in the form of PJ & J)

Complaints:
My pelvic muscle have been soooo sore. Sometimes it hurts to even walk.  (They were never sore with Ellie)
Not being able to sleep on my stomach.
My skin has been breaking out like crazy. (Worse that it has ever been) But luckily my doctor gave me some prescription cream, that seems to be helping a little bit.

Mika: What if the baby is a boy?
Ellie: It's not a boy, you silly goose!
