The Hogle Zoo

The whole family.

Ellie was scared to death of this gorilla. She wouldn't even look at it.
And this year they have all these moving dinosaur statues, she wouldn't look at those either. But when we got home, all she was talking about was all the dinosaurs at the zoo,

Ellie cooling off under a mister.

My little monkey.
One of the monkeys was making a loud monkey howl and Ellie watched him for a few minutes and then started to do the monkey howl herself.

Our little chick.

All the girls.

Engaged!!!!

We are officially engaged!!!
(And we are quite excited about it)

I got off work on Friday at eight. Mika told me to come and pick him up before I went and got EE from my parents house.
So I picked him up and he said, let's go on a walk before we get her.
And so we did.
We went to the duck pond and walked around for a little bit and then sat down on a bench just to talk.
Talking.
Talking.
Blah, blah, blah.
And then he asked me to marry him!
(I was soooo not expecting it.)
And of course I cried and said YES!

It was super simple and so sweet. It was perfect.

(I promise it wasn't me that dressed EE. It was Mika.)

I love my ring. I can't even stop staring at my hand.

I am so excited to marry my best friend. :)

I just want to rock out.

Conversation after getting off work, getting Ellie from grandma's, while driving home.

Me: What did you do today?
Ellie: I don't wanna talk mom. I just want to rock out. Turn the music on.
(So I turn on the radio)
Ellie: Turn it up louder and sing.

Someone stole my eyes!

Ellie slept in bed with me the other night. I love her to death, but ooh boy, is she a pain to sleep with. Either her little feet are kicking me in ear or her little tickle-y hair is all over my face. So in the middle of the night I moved her to a little bed on the floor and went peacefully back to sleep.
So a few hours later Ellie wakes up on the floor, confused and she says,
"I can't see, someone stole my eyes! It's dark, my eyes are broken!"
Funniest thing ever. After that, I let her come back bed with me.

Poopy Ellie.

Mika: I think someone is stinky.
Ellie: No! I am not stinky, I am just poopy!

Fourth of July weekend.

On Saturday we babysat my cousin's baby, Avery, while she went to the Stadium of Fire with her husband. Avery is about a year younger than Ellie but they pretty much weigh the same. And oooh boy are they sooooo funny together.

We had to run to the grocery store so that we could BBQ some dinner. Avery was really nervous and only wanted me to hold her. Ellie would get jealous if I was holding Avery and not her. So Avery rode in the little seat of the shopping cart with Mika pushing, me holding Avery's hand and carrying Ellie. Not to mention that Ellie was holding a duster and was dusting my head. I am sure we looked so ridiculous.

Ellie dusting Avery's head, once I finally got her to sit in the cart.

We got some sparklers and those little snap things to do while the food was cooking. I didn't think we would have too much success because both girls are so little, but they both loved it.

We were also joined by three little neighbor girls that decided Ellie and Avery needed help with the snaps.

We let Ellie have a sparkler and she was so nervous. She didn't move the entire time it was lit.

Ellie also decided to run through the sprinklers with a dress on.

And this is what Avery did while Ellie ran through the sprinklers. So funny, I can't get over her face.

Ellie woke up the next morning and said, "mom, where did my sister Avery go?" I had to correct her that they were cousins and friends, not sisters. haha. But I am glad that they were able to play together so well.
